Located on Calea Moșilor, the new dining space, Sip café, reinterprets a place with historical significance - the old commercial ground floor of the Popp-Bunescu House, built under the signature of architect Jean Berthet in 1895, consolidated and restored within the project carried out between 2020-2023.
The space is structured on two levels, each having a distinct yet complementary character, aiming to offer a unique experience to coffee and wine lovers.
The ground floor area is designed as a bright and welcoming space, where pastel finishes and a diaphanous metal structure are highlighted by metal arches and niches that create zones with varying degrees of intimacy, all bathed in warm light, while the generous shop window towards the street reveals an exhibition and gallery space.
The transition from the ground floor to the basement is accentuated by the helical metal staircase with finishes chosen to reflect the dialogue between the two destinations.
In the basement, the wine bar offers an intimate and mysterious atmosphere, featuring the original brick vaults as a central point for the chosen aesthetic direction, where dark colors and accents in terracotta or red shades are complemented by diffused and warm light, creating an ideal setting for tastings, highlighted by curved geometries and the tactile textures of uneven materials.
The design principles aim to integrate the original structural features into the new identity of the space. The pre-existing configurations are exploited to create a fluid connection between the two functions, ensuring aesthetic and functional coherence. Every design element, from furniture to decorative accents, is chosen with the purpose of offering moments of tranquility amidst urban hustle and bustle.
