Descrierea proiectului în limba engleză

The diploma project proposes a revitalization of the Stirbei Palace on Calea Victoriei in Bucharest. This is achieved by restoring and converting the historic monument, but also by extending the ensemble to allow the relocation of the National Museum of Contemporary Art. The location of the project, , contributes both to the accessibility of the museum to the general public and to the creation of new opportunities for development and urban regeneration. The proposal aims at a non-invasive approach and a volumetric conforming in order to fulfill the symbolic, contextual, social but also functional needs of the ensemble. By means of the proposed solution, an attempt is made to capitalize on a destructured built background, and to realize a landmark in the community in order to give coherence to the public space. The intervention aims at adapting the space of the Stirbei Palace to the institution's representational functions, while the new body defines the exhibition space for permanent and temporary collections.
