Over the land of the free and the home of the brave

No other type of building has been “covered” as much as the national exhibition pavilion. Artists and architects interpret, paint, abuse, obstruct, conceal, screen, extend, or wrap this kind of building, as well as what it represents. Each photograph is a quintuple exposure of the outside of the US pavilion in Venice, taken over five consecutive years. Ghosts of tanks, rubble, border barriers, thatched roofs, timber frame extensions, balloons, columns, mirrors, neon wrappings, sculptures, assemblages, and color immersions haunt our memories and add new chords to the national anthem.
